Online Introductory Course

The SYAE Introductory Course consists of two online weekend seminars over a period of four weeks. Its aim is to deepen one’s understanding and experience of classical yoga, as presented through the Satyananda system of yoga / or Satyananda Yoga.

The course provides valuable tools to develop the skills to enhance one’s personal yoga sadhana (practice) and integrate yoga into daily life. It introduces systematic daily programmes, that include the basic aspects of hatha yoga (asana and pranayama), pratyahara meditation techniques, relaxation practices and swadhyaya components (self-reflection).

Course Aim

If you are already familiar with Satyananda Yoga, this will be an opportunity to refresh your personal approach towards sadhana and yogic lifestyle. If you are new to this system, it will give an introduction to classical yoga and prepares you to continue with a basic sadhana after the course.

To experience the strengthening and balancing effect of classical yoga, it is not necessary to change your entire lifestyle and spend hours on the yoga mat. Integrating a systematic combination of simple yoga techniques and yoga principles into your daily routine, will enable you, to transform your life into a more harmonious and happy one.

Friday: 19.00-21.00
Saturday: 8.00-12.00 & 15.00-18.00
Sunday: 8.00-12.15

Experienced Satyananda Yoga teachers and teachers/instructors trained in the Satyananda system of yoga from Europe and Bihar Yoga Bharati (Institute for Advanced Yogic Sciences, India) will conduct and assess the course.

  • Minimum age is 18 years
  • English language competence
    As all lectures, practical classes, home assignments and assessments will be in English, students need to have a good grasp of the language. Applicants whose first language is not English may be asked to provide evidence of their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

Students will be expected to be present for all
sessions at all times and participate fully in all aspects
of the online course.

One hour yoga programmes will be provided
consisting of asana, pranayama, relaxation,
meditation and self-reflection.

To support/enhance/deepen your learning experience, you will be provided with a course handout and a list of articles to be read during the course. All suggested texts can be found at satyamyogaprasad.net.

Due to substantial differences in average income of
participants from different areas of Europe, course fees apply as follows:

€260.- for participants from: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, UK

€180.- for participants from: Cyprus, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Spain

€120.- for participants from: Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine

The course fee covers all practical and theoretical tuition (incl. PDF handout).

Participants with limited financial resources can apply for reduced course fee.

Closing date of application: 3rd October 2021. Please apply well in advance, as spaces are limited. They may fill up before the application closing date.
