NEW DATES: 2.–4. October 2026
„KAYA STHAIRYAM & HOW TO INTRODUCE PRATYAHARA MEDITATION IN CLASS“
Through the Teacher Modules we can continue to deepen our personal experience and broaden our understanding of the best and most appropriate ways of passing on our learning and experience to our students. To continue this process of learning and working together, SYAE is hosting another Sangha weekend.
The topic of this Teacher Module is „Kaya Sthairyam and how to introduce Pratyahara Meditation to our yoga students“.
For majority of people yoga starts with hatha yoga. Although the asana and pranayama practices do form a important preliminary background for progress in yoga, they will not succeed in achieving the overall wellbeing of an individual. A strong and healthy body is an asset. However, to experience the fullness in life we need to take care of the mind too. The mind also needs training – not only to become strong, but to become content and happy.
Satyananda Yoga offers a wide range of Pratyahara Meditation practices. To present the complete approach of the Satyananda system of yoga it is essential, that we include these techniques in our yoga teaching, therefore enabling our students to gain self-knowledge and to experience a steady and still mind.
Our next Teacher Modul will evolve around the practice of Kaya Sthairyam and how to introduce pratyahara meditation techniques in class, when to introduce it and how to make a gradual progression in teaching these practices.
„Unfortunately, yoga is more or less regarded as a form of physical culture divested of all its psychological and spiritual significance. This is due to an exaggerated emphasis on the yoga asanas.“ Swami Sivananda
